Covid-19: Pune cases touch 56,416 on Tuesday

Adding to the fast increasing number of Covid-19 cases, the total number of positive cases in Pune went up to 56,416 as per the figures released on Tuesday.

The total number of patients discharged stands at 36,027 while the total deaths are 1,442.

The active cases as on Tuesday stand at 18,905 while 847 in are a critical state.

As far as the state is concerned, Maharashtra recorded 8369 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 3,27,031.

With 246 deaths, the total death count of the state is 12,276.

Meanwhile, Mumbai witnessed 992 cases and 62 deaths, taking the total to 1,03,368 cases with 5817 deaths.

Meanwhile, authorities have clarified that the lockdown in Pune will not be extended beyond July 23.

Earlier the lockdown had been imposed from July 14 scheduled to end on July 23 after the city witnessed a sharp rise in the number of cases.

Earlier Pune Collector Naval Kishore Ram requested people to wear a mask and maintain social distancing as he tweeted about the same.

“#Pune district has more than #1Cr People. We have only #600patients who are #critically ill. We do not want even a single critical patient. Let us reduce #anxiety and #panic and think about how to prevent ourselves from infections.  Wear #mask and maintain #distance!” his tweet read.
