Pune: Professional golfer Veer Ahalawat’s team comprising amateurs Jay Shirke, Padmaja Shirke and Advait Gokhale won the Bridgestone-Nirmayan Charity Pro-Am golf tournament played at the Poona club golf course the last weekend.
The winning team tallied 56 Gross. Vikrant Chopra’s team (amateurs Deepak Bhargava, Aditya Natekar and Avinash Deoskar finished runners-up with 57 Gross.
The tournament was played on a modified Texas Scramble format, which involves 1 Pro and 3 Amateurs. After all, four team members hit their drives, and the best player’s ball of the four drives is selected.
The biennial tournament was aimed at raising funds for Indian Cancer Society, Mudita Foundation and Yes! We Can.
At the gala dinner on Saturday, April 2, personal sporting effects of Olympians, PV Sindhu, Mary Kom, Udayan Mane, Anirban Lahiri and Indian Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni were auctioned to raise the funds for the cause.
The proceeds from the event will go to Indian Cancer Society and Yes! We Can and Mudita Foundation.
