Pune: Anuradha Chaudhuri played fine golf on a day when clouds took respite and gave the sun some chance to shine as she posted a gross of 69 to lead her team comprising  R. R. Deshpande and Smita Atre to win the Independence Day Cup Championship Pro-am golf tournament played under 4-ball Texas scramble format at the Poona Club Golf Course 0n Saturday.

 The event was originally scheduled on August 12 to mark the 75th Independence Day but was rescheduled due to inclement weather, which had rendered the course unplayable.

As a team totalled a gross score of 62, three better than the runner-up team led by Arkin Patil, the runner’s up team comprised Rajiv Pusalkar and Ravi Budhwar.

Finishing in the third place was Pranav Mardikar’s team also comprising Amit Chillal and P. P. Gogte.

Results:

Winning team: Anuradha Chaudhuri, R.R. Deshpande, Pratap Shahane, Smita Atre 62 gross

Runner’s up team: Arkin Patil, Rajiv Pusalkar, Andrew Pinto, Ravi Budhwar 59 gross

2nd runner’s up team: Pranav Mardikar, Amit Chillal, Rishi Bhosale, P.P. Gogte 60 gross

Longest drive (on hole no. 18): Ketki Sood 300 yards 38 ft

Longest drive (on hole no 3): Anuradha Chaudhuri 260 yards.
