Pune-based, the Blades of Glory Cricket Museum has set the world record for being the Largest Cricket Museum in the world. Founded by Rohan Pate, a cricket enthusiast and a former U-19 Maharashtra cricket player, the museum, which has over 51,000 memorabilia from cricket players all over the world, displayed in a 5000 Sq. Ft long gallery has been awarded The World Record Award by the World Record Academy, Miami, USA.
The 5000 sq.ft long gallery at the museum also known as ‘Castle of Cricket’ has many cricket items such as bats and balls signed by the captains of the World Cup winning teams, personal cricket items signed and used by cricketing greats including Sir Donald Bradman, Kapil Dev, M.S. Dhoni, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Desmond Haynes, Sir Viv Richards, Imran Khan, Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar among others. The Museum also consists of rarest of the rare and most unique cricketing equipment of players around the globe including those of legends who have passed away.
With the achievement the museum has now surpassed the several museums including Lords Cricket Museum, London, The Bradman Museum, New South Wales, West Indies Cricket Heritage Centre, Grenada and The New Zealand Cricket Museum Wellington among others for having the largest collection of cricket memorabilia.
Speaking on the record Rohan Pate said, “. Cricket is a religion in India and my passion for this sport has led me to do this. I believe this achievement as a feather on the cap specially for the citizens of Maharashtra that the world’s largest cricket museum is in Pune. Considering the recognition, Blades of Glory is receiving from global platforms, I want to now establish a cricket museum in all Indian metro cities, the first one being in Mumbai and also setting it up in all cricketing nations.”
