No E-Pass required from September 2 in Maharashtra

Police check passes of vehicles during the lockdown.

In a major relief for those who have Inter-District travel plans in their private vehicles, E-Pass will no longer be required as the Maharashtra state government on Monday issued fresh guidelines for September.

There shall be no restriction on Inter-District movement of persons and goods including those for cross land-border trade under Treaties with the neighbouring countries. No separate permission/approval / e-permit will be required for the vehicles and the persons travelling therein for such movements.

Meanwhile, passenger movement by private bus and mini-bus and other operators will be allowed.

The Standard Operating Procedure for the same will be issued by the Transport Commissioner, Maharashtra.

Movement of people in all public and private transport is allowed in the following manner:

Taxi/Cab/aggregator – Driver + 3

Rickshaw – Driver + 2

Four Wheeler – Driver + 3

Two-wheeler – 1 + 1 with helmet and mask.

Wearing a mask will continue to remain compulsory.

Meanwhile, as per the latest orders, schools and educational institutions will continue to remain shut till the end of September. This will also apply to movie theatres and swimming pools.

In a welcome move, hotels and lodges will be allowed to open at 100 capacity. A separate set of operating procedures will be issued by the administration for the same.
