Pune: Aditya Pande and Jagdish Belwal, both posted identical scores of 6-over par 60 on the opening day of the second edition of the month-long 6-team Bridgestone Golf Premier League – Belmondo, at the par-54 Lodha Belmondo Golf course off the Pune-Mumbai Expressway over the weekend.
Pande’s excellent scoring notwithstanding his team, Amigos failed to win the only match they played and were ranked 4th with 0 points behind Eagle strikers (2) and Bindas Boys (2), which was represented by Belwal Jay Thakur of eagle strikers was another low scorer posting a card of 63.
The event is supported by top brands like Ecco and Meshworkz, will be played over the weekends in which 72 amateur golfers are divided into 6 teams—Bindas Boys, Eagle Strikers, Nawu Marvel, Regal Warriors, Amigos and Air Strikers are taking part. The Bridgestone Golf Premier League will see the final being held on Dec12, wherein the top two teams qualify for the final, which the Final, which will be played on a modified Ryder Cup format, which was created by Mr. Aditya Malpani of Ace golfing. “These are all amateur players, so at this level, a score of 60 is quite good,”, said Mr Malpani
“It means played a handicap of +6, usually below +10 handicap only professionals play,” explained Malpani. “So, for amateurs the score of +6is very encouraging”, he said.
