The Poona Kennel Confederation, in collaboration with the Kennel Club of India, had organised the 124th, 125th and 126th All Breed Championship Dog Shows, the 2nd Specialty Show by the Sahyadri Golden Retriever Association (Maharashtra Chapter). This prestigious event took place on 20th and 21st January 2024 at Police Ground, Shivaji Nagar, Ganesh Khind Road, Opp. Rahul Theater, Pune.
The event promised a showcase of extraordinary diversity and skill, featuring over 300 dogs representing 50 different breeds. Judging was conducted by a globally renowned panel, including Ms. Judith Ann Oliver from Australia, Mr. Liu Ching-Li and Mr. Ching Yin-Chi from Taiwan and Mr. Chakappan Chantarasmee from Thailand, bringing an international standard to the evaluation process. The championship format was uniquely structured, with each breed selecting its champion, leading to a total of 24 top champions across three distinct wings. This format not only celebrates the best in each category but is also purposefully designed to assess and enhance breed standards, focusing on quality improvement and the maintenance of high pedigree standards.
Sanjay Desai, President & Committee Member of the Poona Kennel Confederation, who has been at the helm for 30 years, says, “This event is not just a competition; it’s a celebration of the rich diversity and exemplary standards in canine breeds. We are dedicated to showcasing and improving the pedigree of these magnificent animals.”
