In a move to improve traffic and provide less congested roads in Pune, the Pimpri Chinchwad traffic branch released an order, under which it has banned all the small vehicles that often jump on Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) lanes and slow down the traffic.
As per the rule by the concerned authorities, only civic transport buses and emergency services vehicles are allowed to use BRTS lane. Apart from them, if anyone with banned vehicles is found using the lanes, and violating the rule, will be fined Rs 1,500.
Fine For Using BRTS Lane
The traffic police official said that anyone violating the rule for the first, would have to pay a penalty of Rs 500. Again, if the same person is found using the banned lane, they will be fined Rs1,500.
Here’s What ACP (Traffic) of Pimpri-Chinchwad Says
Assistant commissioner of police (traffic), Pimpri-Chinchwad, Vitthal Kubade, said the authority has been trying so hard to control commuters not using the BRTS, which has been created for emergency heavy vehicles only, but they got no concrete solution regarding the same. After seeing the situation, they are left with the only option to impose heavy fines on the public for the offense.
Kubade said the drivers and the banned vehicle owners are reckless and refused to obey the rules. Kubade said the department has written a proposal to the RTO department, asking them to suspend the driver’s license for three months of the constant rule breakers.
