Pune has extended its night curfew till 14th March. Schools, colleges and coaching classes will also remain closed till 14th March. PMC has taken this decision due to the recent spike in Covid cases since February 24.
The educational institutes which were reopened by PMC during January will now have to be closed till March 14. Due to Night Curfew, no public movement except essential services will be allowed between 11 pm to 6 am.
Saurabh Rao, Pune’s divisional commissioner has assured that there won’t be any restrictions on shop timings. However, the shop will have to maintain proper Covid-19 protocols and follow social distancing rules.
According to the data released by the government total Covid cases in Pune is at 4,06,453 and the number of people recovered is at 3,87,527. The number of active cases is at 9,860 and the number of deaths is 9,235.
The state government has also extended the lockdown at various other districts due to the sudden spike in cases. These districts include Amravati, Akola, Akot, and Murjitapur. Covid has infected Maharashtra the most and it still remains the state with the most number of cases. 21,46,777 people have been affected with Covid-19 in Maharashtra and among them, 73,734 are still active. 52,092 people have died due to the disease.
