Pune: As part of its commitment to fostering football talent and expanding its presence in Pune, South United Football Club (SUFC) proudly partnered with Fr. Schoch Memorial Sports Tournament as the title sponsor for their 8th edition. This exciting inter-batch sport tournament was held on June 1st and 2nd, 2024, at St. Vincent’s High School, Pune.
The ‘Inter-Batch Sports Tournament’ has grown significantly since its inception in 2015. The first edition, held at the Astroturf in Mukund Nagar, received an overwhelming response. This success led St. Vincent School’s principal Rev. Fr. Andrew Fernandes to invite the tournament to use the St. Vincent’s ground from the second edition onwards. Since then St. Vincent’s ground has been the venue for hosting the Fr. Schoch Memorial Sports Tournament.
The tournament was graced by the presence of the Principal of St. Vincent’s High School, President of VOBA (Vocational Officers’ Benevolent Association), VOBA Committee members and Terence Phelan (SUFC).
This year in football, a total of 38 teams competed in two categories: Senior (36 years and above) and Junior Category (below 36 years) playing in a group stage followed by knockout rounds.
