St Ursula High School girls clinch Under-14 basketball title

Pune: St Ursula High School, Akurdi girls defeated arch-rivals Kamalnayan Bajaj School, Sambhajinagar 19-07 to clinch the title in the Under-14 category at the Zilla Parishad Basketball tournament which took place at City Pride School, Pradhikaran recently.

In a derby of sorts, the Ursulines dominated right from the start.  Yuvika Kolhe put on a good show scoring 8 points while Riya Bora chipped in with 6 points. Meanwhile, Elsha scored 3 points and Anvita Borse added 2 points to the tally.

Earlier in the semi-final encounter, St Ursula defeated Army Public School, Dehu Road with the score reading 32-06. Yuvika Kolhe displayed a good game scoring 10 points while Riya Bora scored 8 points. Elsha Kutti scored 6 points and Anvita Borase scored 6 points to help their team make it to the final.

Talking about their team’s performance, Sports Teacher Sachin Vavale said “The entire team is elated with the win. All the girls put in their best efforts which turned out in their favour. I am very happy with the win. We will continue with the practice and will now aim to keep up the performance in the upcoming tournaments. Also a word of appreciation for the coach Nikhil Sareen for his efforts and support. I would like to thank principal Sister Valery for her encouragement and support.”
