September 16, 2026: The Misfit Collaborative has launched a new neuro-affirming discovery platform aimed at helping caregivers, educational institutions and organisations find trusted professionals, resources and practical tools to better support neurodivergent individuals.
Table Of Content
The platform seeks to address a growing challenge in India, where families, educators and employers often struggle to identify reliable and practical guidance on neurodiversity. By bringing practitioners, resources, assessments, guides and learning content together, The Misfit Collaborative aims to create a single destination for discovering support and implementing inclusive practices.
Nearly one in eight Indian children between the ages of two and nine live with a neurodevelopmental condition, according to research cited by CNN. This represents more than 20 million children, highlighting the scale of the need for accessible support systems.
At the same time,

neurodiversity is emerging as an important consideration for India’s workplaces. According to Nasscom, around 39% of 18–24-year-olds in the Indian workforce self-identify as neurodivergent, further highlighting the need for organisations to develop more inclusive working environments.
Addressing the Gap Between Awareness and Action
While conversations around neurodiversity have grown, families and institutions continue to face challenges in translating awareness into action.
Parents and caregivers may find it difficult to determine which professionals or interventions are appropriate. Educators often require practical guidance on communication, classroom environments and sensory needs, while companies are increasingly looking for ways to make workplace policies and everyday systems more inclusive.
The Misfit Collaborative has been developed to address these challenges by offering access to th
erapists, psychiatrists, special educators and other practitioners, alongside resources for inclusive-space design, assessments, implementation guides and everyday tools.
The platform also features podcasts, blogs and frameworks to help users continue their learning beyond individual workshops or training programmes.
‘How Do We Design for Difference?’
Ann Thomas, Co-Founder and CEO of The Misfit Collaborative, said the initiative is intended to shift the conversation around neurodivergence in India.
“For decades, India asked one question about neurodivergent children: how do we get them to fit in? That question has produced a generation of exhausted parents, underprepared teachers and brilliant adults who mask all day at work,” Thomas said.
“Every parent, teacher or business leader may want to do the right thing. But wanting to and knowing how are very different. We created The Misfit Collaborative so that the next decade will ask a different one
— how do we design for difference?” she added.
Creating an Inclusive Ecosystem
The platform is designed to serve multiple stakeholders, including families, schools, universities and businesses. Instead of relying on generic inclusion templates, it aims to provide context-sensitive resources that can be applied to everyday situations.
For educational institutions, this includes guidance around inclusive classrooms and sensory spaces. For businesses, the platform provides resources to help organisations understand neuro-affirming approaches and build more supportive workplaces.
Organisations and practitioners can also connect with the platform and list their services, helping expand the network of resources available to families and institutions.
